In the news

So we all know my obsession with all things NY Times. I frequently wish my kiddos were reading at a higher grade level so I could off-handedly mention articles there and hope they would a) read them and b) understand them.

But there are times you just suck it up and send an article to every teacher you know in hopes that your babies may get to read this one. Perhaps, build background?

I sent this article to our reading, writing, social studies, and pretty much any teacher I could think of.

Can you believe that Miep Gies died yesterday? I cannot. I feel like it might actually be a news story that my kids would read and understand. I mean, the older kids in my school read Diary of Anne Frank with their phenomenal reading teacher 2 years ago. My kiddos read it last year with another phenomenal reading teacher. They are learning about the Holocaust in history. So this is perfect.

One day, one day all schools will be able to give NY Times news articles to the kids and they will a) understand b) care and c) respect the news enough to read it.
