In college, this would have been something I would have wanted to work on full time. Change the way girls treat each other, I would say. We need to work on self-esteem! Think about the generations that are becoming waifs, choosing to act like incompetent fools to impress their friends and boys.
Now, I have different priorities. I'd like to see my students in college. I want to work full time on getting all kids to have an excellent education so that they can have the choice to follow their dreams after high school.
I'd like to see my kids have dreams that involve more than their neighborhood.
I'm not so concerned about gender equality right now. I'm concerned about economic equality. Educational equality. Equality that deals with something more than middle class girls.
