Well, apparently, the new controversy is immigration. Thanks for pointing that out, NY Times.
Such an interesting point of view...
Here's what I tell people who ask (you know, the fam, the conservative Catholic fam?). I think that we are going about persecuting illegal immigrants the wrong way. Here's a way we can do it well: require each student in a public school to have a birth certificate for the United States or a Green Card to enroll in the public school system.
Wait? Arizona doesn't do that? Well, my school district doesn't. So if the kids have no where to go.....
Oh and heafty, heafty fines for employers who hire illegal immigrants. Require visas, people. Visas.
There. My 2 cents. Its pretty controversial (You should hear my father saying things like, "You sound like a Republican right now.") My reply: "Well Daddy, I'm semi-sick of my tax dollars being used on people who don't pay taxes."
