This is the first summer that I have essentially "taken off" since the summer I graduated from high school.
I took 3 weeks to really go and do absolutely nothing. It has been fabulous.
We must remember that my father is mildly (okay, majorly) OCD and loves to plan everything. So he planned a trip to Washington D.C. Well, more like he was going for a work conference and my mother and I tagged along.
It was awesome. I haven't been there to sightsee since the 8th grade, and when we were there (you know, that bus trip we all took), we were more excited about hiding golf clubs on the roofs of the hotels (yes, it happened) and goofing around with our new friends then actually seeing the sights.
So this time I dragged my mom all around the city on the Metro (sidenote: I'm seriously considering D.C. as the next city option. It has great potential. So send me employment opportunities) and we saw everything.
You know you're a teacher when you choose specific monuments to take pictures of and say, "I can show this to my kiddos when we talk about...."
I got interesting phone calls while in D.C. that evolved into text messages. "Ms. L, stop screening your calls. We need to talk to you." "Power Trip, I'm not screening my calls. I'm on a bus in D.C. and cannot hear my phone."
As soon as I'm given the green light (Read: I'm not allowed to talk about the conversation until, well, they tell me I can), it should be a damn interesting blog post.
Let's just say I may finally get what I want AND people may or may not have realized that I am a good teacher, and sometimes, you have to PLACE people in teaching assignments because of STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.
:) Off to watch the ridiculously large T.V. my parents purchased in my absence....
